I have many plans for further development of the Free Text system! Among the first items on my list are:
ΓÇó revise index building functions to provide full user control of alphabetization order, character mapping, word delimiter definition, etc., for linguists and others who want to work with non-Latin alphabets or different fonts
ΓÇó revise browsing functions to work as background servers in multiprocessing environments, to make it easier to develop non-HyperCard-based windowing interfaces for Free Text on future Macintosh (and other) computers
ΓÇó revise indexing and browsing functions to work with multi-file databases, using a "virtual merge" approach, so that original documents will not have to be appended into one in order to be indexed and browsed together
ΓÇó add the ability for a user to annotate various places in an indexed database, and have those "marginalia" appear while browsing
